Décor elements have always fostered a lifelong passion in my life.  Ask any of my loved ones witnessing my excitement while enthusiastically adorning four themed Christmas trees in our home during the holidays.  Throughout my life, design has always brought me such joy.  It is no wonder why, after stepping down from my registered nurse career to be a stay-at-home mom, I found myself gravitating towards volunteer opportunities associated with development, creativity and design.  

From decorating my home, designing the kid’s bedrooms, constructing decorative bulletin boards and crafts for school classrooms, planning and implementing themed band fundraisers, fabricating sports banners to promote my kid's teams, as well as, organizing and executing middle school graduation ceremonies, holiday parties and church programs and events…these countless junctures I pursued embodied one common theme…design.  Funny thing is, I didn’t realize this recurrent thread until recently, when challenging seasons in my life collided with one another, creating a necessary pause.  This time of testing helped to define my desires and “connect the dots” which lead me to where I am today.  

Faced with the emotional rollercoaster of “empty nest syndrome” and the need to re-enter the workforce, I found myself questioning whether to reapply my skills as a neonatal intensive care nurse or completely redirecting my career to tap into and employ my creative abilities.  While contemplating my career direction, I received a cancer diagnosis that would change my perspective and help define a narrower focus of my heart’s desire.  Being out of my comfort zone is an understatement to the stretching involved these last few years. Although the challenging and emotional twists and turns along my path were never anything I would have expected or asked for, I am grateful for all the rich blessings that were a result from these challenges.  The beautiful new people I met along the way, the enormous help and encouragement I received from family and friends and all the discovery and growth resulting from this journey has definitely been my sweetest favor.

Celebrating my 2-year cancer free marker while transitioning my last child into college that same year brought me to the realization of new beginnings.  I acted, securing my Meeting and Event Planning certificate at Cal State San Marcos which helped bridge this new career path.  This is where I met some amazing entrepreneurs who took me under their wing to further fine tune my direction of pursuing my passion for design through small business ownership.  The tremendous encouragement and support from my husband, Don, and children Danny, Krisi and Alayna helped me conquer, navigate and persevere through doubts and fears that surfaced throughout the start of this new endeavor.  I am forever grateful for their steadfast love!

Designed Affair, LLC was launched the summer of 2018, delivering seasonal design for businesses, hotels and restaurants in the Southern California region.  Our goal is to enhance guest experience with a warm, welcoming design, uniquely tailored for each business.  This distinct service delivers a positive first impression of the property, resulting in a pleasing guest experience.  Benefiting from tastefully curated design displayed prominently, increases customer and staff satisfaction, therefore improving the businesses ROI.  I look forward to growing my business and providing further community contribution through these opportunities of discovery, growth, and unveiling!
